Cookham Jubilee

Mandy Brar

Mandy runs the Hillcrest stores off Whyteladies lane, and is an active Parish Councillor.

She came from Malaysia at the age of 3 to Cippenham in Slough but her impact on Cookham and her tireless campaigning for improvements to the village (like the Cannondown Road project with the new footpath and bringing the speed limit down on Switchback Road) make me feel like the family have been here for ever.

Mandy and husband Harry run the stores from 6am to 8pm most days so it does not offer much opportunity for other things, apart from reading, knitting, being on the town twinning group, the Cookham Society, the Royal British legion, and the Parish Council!

Will they ever find time for a holiday visit back to Malaysia? It’s Mandy’s dream.

You’ll be pleased to try out your languages when you next pop into her shop…..Mandy is fluent in speaking Punjabi, Hindi and English!
