Cookham Jubilee

Les Mason

When he’s not living at Crinkly Bottom, Noel Edmonds pulls pints at Spencers in the Pound!

It’s 10 years since Les and his wife Christine transformed the old White Hart into the lovely eating and drinking experience we enjoy today, and everyone calls him Noel. He even groomed the beard for this sitting!

Les is a familiar figure in local pubs; in his 23 years as a publican he’s owned and run Masons and the Walnut Tree in Bourne End and the Red Lion in Wooburn. Before that he was a taxi driver which is why he’s perfectly at ease keeping half a dozen separate conversations going at once!

On Friday nights Les welcomes the Cookham Wanderers to Spencers to talk about the great goals we like to think we might have scored….Away from the pub he finds time to keep a couple of Aston Martins and a paddock of lovely horses.

Les’ next project is a riding school in Beaconsfield – but don’t try riding after a pint!
