Cookham Jubilee

Gary Langley

For four years Gary has been the most recognised face at Countrystore, after his mum Tina.

Countrystore is Cookham’s lifeline. It seems funny to think that only a few years ago it was open 9-5; now you can shop in the newly refurbished shop for your essentials 16 hours a day. “I like the new look, it goes with the times, and brightens the place up.”

Gary’s family business used to be Patsy’s Pantry on the Parade and he grew up there living above it, going to Cookham nursery, the Rise and Furze Platt; before studying animal care at the Agricultural college in Burchetts Green.

Gary enjoyed being in a couple of pantos with the Tarrystone players, plays a bit of football and basketball on the Alfred Major.

He laments the end of the Gate pub and the Tavern. “I like the Crown or eating at Spencers where my brother Craig is the chef.”
